Linda Rudin Frizzell

Fabric Artist
Linda Rudin Frizzell was formally trained in fine arts and earned a living in graphic arts and design for many years. In the mid-90’s she discovered the astoundingly large palette of colors available in commercial fabrics and has been making constructions with fabric ever since.
Linda's work draws from her previous experience in painting, drawing, sculpture, drafting, design and, most important, color. She uses a construction method that is a combination of collage and applique.
Her goal is to maximize the amount of time spent on the creative process and minimize the time spent in strictly technical construction. To accomplish this she designs as she goes and uses free-motion threadwork throughout the process. Her images are usually abstract and combine pattern and repetition with asymmetry. She often works in series and does six to ten pieces per series.
Linda works in her studio in the woods of rural Washington where she lives with her husband and dogs. |
